Solve the Grandfather Clock Box, Toes, and Scroll puzzles in Servant of the Lake and get a hungover William up.
Servant of the Lake: Waking Up William Walkthrough
William is badly hungover and sound asleep on the sofa. Time to get him up.
First, take the Spoon from the table in front of him. Then click the red curtain on the left and pull it open. Take William’s Hat from the top shelf and click his blazer. Open the pocketwatch: it shows 9 o’clock.
Go back into the room and click the top of the clock. Set the hands to 9 o’clock. That doesn’t wake him, but it lets you open the bottom of the clock, where you’ll find an angry-looking Rustie.
Click Rustie to make him run off, then click the box.
Grandfather Clock Box Puzzle

Hint: These items show up somewhere else too.
Solution: Look at the picture of the Vanderboom Family 1806 above William. It shows the child on the left with the raven, the mother with the brooch, the baby with the sock, the child on the right with a chalice, and the father with a pipe. In the compartment, move the gem to the top left, the pipe to the top right, the chalice to the bottom right, and the skull to the bottom left.

Take the Chalice. Go to William and click his mouth. Catch the dribble with the Chalice, then go to the white puddle near the bird and pick up the Seed.
Click the plant pot on the table near the bird. Add the Seed and the Chalice with Liquid to the pot. Shake the plant to get Bird Seed.
Click the bird and feed it the Bird Seed. Pick up the Feather it drops and go back to William.
Hidden achievement (Tickling Mr. William): Use the Bird Feather on his nose and nipples first. Keep moving it around them until the achievement pops.
Then click his feet so you’re looking at his toes.
William’s Toes Puzzle
Hint: What happens when you tickle his toes?
Solution: Start tickling his toes with the feather. Watch and listen to how many times he wiggles the toe you tickle. That number tells you how many toes along to tickle next. If he wiggles it once, tickle the next toe. If you start with the big toe and he wiggles it four times, tickle his little toe at the bottom. If he pulls his foot away slightly, the puzzle resets and you’ll have to start again.

When he pulls his foot all the way away, he drops a key under the sofa. Pick it up and use it to open the wooden box next to the Bird Seed plant.
Take the Doorknob and Eye Drops from the box. Go to William, click to open his eyes, and put the Eye Drops in. Then click his mouth and pour the Coffee straight into it.
Back out, and he’s sitting up. Talk to him, and he asks for his hat, so hand it over. Next he wants an Egg. Go to the window and use the Knob on it.
Open the window and collect rainwater with the Chalice. Go back to the Bird Seed plant and drag the Chalice with Liquid onto it. Click the plant to get more Bird Seed and feed the bird again. This time it lays an Egg.
Take the Egg to William and drag it into his hand, then crack it with the Spoon. Click William to get him to eat his breakfast, then put the Scroll on the table as he asks.
Turn the dials until they show a picture of a fish across all of them. Pull out the papers inside: one has a story, and the other has pictures.
Scroll Puzzle

Hint: Follow the story again.
Solution: Pick up the paper and move it under William’s hand. Be careful: if the wrong picture passes under it, the puzzle resets. Each paragraph dims once you complete its section. Follow this order:
- Picture of the building
- Picture of the woman in rock
- Door with stairs
- Three watches
- Book
- Elixir bottle
- Person with halo around them

Once you’ve deciphered the scroll, William asks you for more help, and that wraps up the morning.
