Complete Doing the Washing in Servant of the Lake by gathering the Dirty Clothes and hanging them in the right order.
Servant of the Lake: Doing the Washing Walkthrough
After the hunt, you’re back in the entrance hall. Take the sock (Dirty Clothes) hanging off the edge of the table on the right.
Go into the room on the left and check the table for more Dirty Clothes. Then back out and click the pile of clothes on the floor.
Click James and pick up the note on his left. Leave the room and go into the next one.
Head upstairs toward William’s room and talk to the maid. She takes James off your hands and asks you to clean his dirty diaper.
Click William’s door on the left, which is slightly open. He notices the timepiece but tells you to keep it, and hands you a dirty sock.
Hidden achievement (Close Inspection): When you’re at the top of the stairs with the maid, go right and inspect the bathroom lock again.
Go back to the stove room and click the stove. Add all of the Dirty Clothes to the tub.
Once it has everything it needs, the tub bubbles up and you can pick it up.
Go back upstairs and through the door on the right. Open the balcony doors. A thin black washing line runs across the top. Drag the tub of wet laundry to the line to hang up all the clothes.
Laundry Puzzle
Hint: There has to be a better way to sort them.
Solution: Every item except the shirt has pink lines on it. Hang them in ascending order by the number of lines. Starting with the shirt on the left, the order is:
- Shirt
- Boxers
- Cloth
- Jeans
- Sock (four lines at the top)
- Sock (five lines at the top)
- Towel

When the puzzle is solved, the shirt pocket rattles. Click it to get a Key. Back out and go to the bathroom. Unlock the door with the Key and step inside to finish this part of the evening.
