Talk to the maid to start preparing dinner. Take the Knife from her. On the menu are potatoes, soup, and cake.

Pick up the Wood from the floor. Scroll right and read the note on the table. Scroll further right and open the cupboards. Take the Onion, Raw Potatoes, and Shrimp.

Back out and click the window. Open it, talk to William, and take the Mushroom from him. Back out again and go left. Open the Oil cupboard, take the tomato, and click the bottles.

Oil Puzzle

Hint: Oils don’t mix.

Solution: Look at the colors of the layers. Move the oils until each bottle holds only one color:

  1. Pick up the bottle on the right.
  2. Put the red into the far left bottle, and put the white into the second or fourth bottle.
  3. Then add the black to the middle bottle.
  4. Add the next white to the second or fourth bottle.
  5. Take the black from the center bottle and put it into the fifth bottle.
  6. Move the red from the first bottle into the middle bottle.
  7. Move the black from the first bottle into the fifth bottle.
  8. Move the red from the center bottle to the first bottle.
  9. Move the white from the second and fourth bottles into the center bottle.
  10. Move the black from the center bottle into the fifth bottle.
  11. Move the red from the fourth bottle into the fifth bottle.
  12. Move the white from the center bottle into the fourth bottle.
  13. Move the red from the second bottle into the first bottle.
  14. Move the brown from the center bottle to the middle bottle.
  15. Move the white from the fourth bottle to the second bottle.
  16. Move the black from the fourth bottle to the center bottle.
  17. Move all the red from the first and fifth bottles into the fourth bottle.
  18. Move the black from the center bottle into the fifth bottle.
  19. Move the brown from the center bottle to the first bottle.
  20. Move the black from the center bottle to the fifth bottle.
  21. Move the white from the second bottle to the center bottle.
  22. Move the brown from the first bottle into the second bottle.
  23. Move the white from the first bottle into the third bottle and the brown into the second bottle.

Puzzle complete: Oil Puzzle

Once you have the Bottle with Oil, leave the cupboard. Now it’s time to prepare the food.

Go to the cutting board on the table. Add the onion, cut it, then pick it up. Do the same with the Tomato and the Shrimp. At the pan on top of the Stove, add the Oil, then the Onion, then the Tomato, then the Shrimp. Put the Wood in the stove and light it with the matches to heat it. Then add the Mushroom.

Hidden achievement (Seasoning the Soup): To season the soup perfectly, go to the cake on the left of the kitchen. Kill the fly with the knife, pick it up, and season the soup with it. The achievement won’t pop right away, but it will later in the chapter.

While you’re here, put the Raw Potatoes in the oven to cook.

The last thing to do is fix the cake. Move all the items on top of the cake to block any holes. When it’s ready, take a Piece of Cake and go back to the maid.

She’s holding a bell. Talk to her and ring it. Aldous appears and asks to taste the potatoes first, so hand them over.

Potato Puzzle

Hint: Those potatoes remind me of something.

Solution: Each potato looks like Aldous. Start by feeding him the center one. Watch which body part the dish affects, then find the potato with that body part outlined in black and feed it to him next.

After the potatoes, give him the cake. Take the Spoon from him, go over to the soup, take a spoonful, and bring it back to feed him.

Once he’s tried it, he wants you to have a taste. Click and hold the spoon to make the screen change. You’re now in a hallucination, with shadows across the scene in front of you.

Click it, and the scene changes again to show some of the items you put in the soup. To get through this sequence, click the right thing for each line Aldous says:

  • “Servant, is that you?” Aldous.
  • “My hat is missing” William on the right, with no hat.
  • “Where is my hat?” The hat on the left.
  • “Bring me my coffee” The coffee pot on the left.
  • “This fog is making me thirsty” The bottle on the right.
  • “Where is the book?” The book on the left. Click William again after this.
  • “I’m ready for my bath servant” Alexandra on the right.
  • “Undress me” Alexandra’s dress.
  • “I see what you are doing, servant.” The eye on Alexandra.
  • “I can bring you home” The carriage driver.
  • “It’s too late” The carriage driver again.
  • “Silence” The cloaked figure.
  • “The blood moon is rising” Drag the moon up.
  • “Where is the baby?” The basket to the right of an onion piece. Open the basket and pull off the cover.
  • “Come here, servant. Taste the elixir” Aldous, at the back on the right.
  • “Help me clean” The maid on the right, next to the shrimp.
  • “So much blood” The blood puddle.
  • “Servant, help me.” Aldous, on the floor.

When the sequence ends, Aldous really is on the floor. Talk to him to finish the afternoon.
