Servant of the Lake: The Departure Walkthrough

Underground cave with a cell door and bodies on either side

You wake up in the underground cave from the start of the chapter, with the bodies of Aldous and William on either side.

Aldous slumped against the wall with a fork in his shoulder

Scroll left to Aldous, talk to him, and pull the Fork out of his shoulder.

Hidden achievement (First Aid): Click Aldous’s leg and pull up his trousers. There are three holes in his leg. Click them to open them, use the Fork to remove the bullets, then click the holes again to close them up.

Now scroll over to William. Click his body and take the Broken Glass from his shoulder.

Cave with the dripping puddle circled in front of the cell door

Go to the middle of the room and put the Broken Glass on the puddle where the water drips down. Take the Filled Broken Glass and give it to Aldous. He gives you a Cloth in exchange for the water.

William's chest with the wound on his shoulder circled

Take the Cloth back to William. Use it on his wound, then use the Fork to pull out a Small Piece of Meat.

Go back to the middle of the room and click the cat’s shadow behind the cell door. It’s good old Rustie.

Give the Small Piece of Meat to Rustie and click him so he runs off. Back out, and he comes back with a Hair Pin in his mouth. Take the Hair Pin and use it on the lock of the cell door.

Cell door lock with the hair pin inserted

Twist it slowly until a screw starts to rattle. Then hold it in place and wait for the screw to fall out. Do this for all four screws, then drag the latch to the right to unlock the door.

Boarded-up corridor

Go through the cell door until you reach a boarded-up corridor. Slide the board away and keep going until you find a Torch on the wall. You have nothing to light it with yet, so back out and return to the room with the huge column on the left.

Room with a large column and the Flint circled on the floor

Look at the floor to the left of the column. Pick up the Flint and go back to the Torch. Use the Flint on it. The room lights up, and you’ll see the head of a statue on the floor.

Lit torch on the wall with the statue head circled on the floor

Click the head and note the red lines on its mouth. Go into the room on the right, and stones fall from above. You now have two paths. Take the door on the right and pick up the Plank.

Back out and take the door on the left. Put the Plank over the gap in the floor. Keep going until you reach a square rock on the ground with five dots on it. Continue on to the head of a bird statue on the floor. Click it to see the number 8.

Three headless statues by the doors with a red mark

Head through the dark corridor to reach the statues with the timepieces from before. Their heads are missing (you saw them scattered along the path), and there’s now a big red mark on the door.

Timepiece Puzzle

First, set the timepieces again. The statue heads you passed along the way give you the answer:

  • Left Statue: 3 o’clock
  • Middle Statue: 8 o’clock
  • Right Statue: 5 o’clock

Once the timepieces are set, go through the double doors. Click the figure, then pick up the baby from the floor.

As the screen darkens, click the white square to move toward the light. When you get outside, the carriage driver appears. Talk to him, and he offers to look after the child. Hand James over, then get into the carriage and close the curtains.

Achievement unlocked: The Departure

That’s the end of Servant of the Lake. If you missed any hidden achievements, press “Continue” to revisit earlier segments and replay them.

Still missing one more achievement after that? That’s not a mistake. There’s another secret to uncover.
