Servant of the Lake: Serving Dinner Walkthrough
Hidden achievement (Safety Test): Before dinner starts, pull the rope in the top left corner to test the chandelier. Keep pulling until Aldous asks what you’re doing.
Talk to Aldous, and he asks you to fill his glass. Click the Red Wine next to Alexandra and pour it into his glass. Click him to start the toast and the first course.
The Appetizers
Go to the left side of the room and take the food from the maid. Click the table and add the plate of appetizers. A note appears on the left of the table. It reads:
- Everyone takes two appetizers
- Aldous prefers to eat vegetarian
- William does not like bread
- Alexandra loves a crispy rabbit ear
It also reminds you to pour the wine, so fill everyone’s glasses first. Each plate needs two items, and a few can go out right away:
- Put the onion and broccoli on Aldous’s plate (left).
- Move the crispy rabbit ear to Alexandra’s plate (center).
William doesn’t like bread, and Aldous already has two items, so the bread goes to Alexandra. That leaves William with the fish head and bacon.
Musical Intermezzo
With the appetizers done, William provides some entertainment. Click him. He dedicates a song to his siblings, and notes appear near him.
Catch the notes in William’s wine glass. Each time you get one in, he moves the glass under a new set of notes. Watch out: the notes don’t always fall straight down.
If notes are angled left or right and the glass sits directly under them, they’ll hit the rim and reset the puzzle. When he finishes singing, take the thing out of his drink and throw it away.
The Main Course
The main course works like the appetizers. Take the food from the maid, carry the Plate with the Main Dish to the table, and add it. Another note appears:
- All food should be served
- Aldous is still eating vegetarian
- William eats double Aldous’ portion
- Aldous has an allergy
- Alexandra prefers more meat than vegetables
- William eats as varied as possible
There are two potatoes, two broccoli, and two carrots to share out, along with three pieces of meat.
To find Aldous’s allergy, drag each vegetable over his hand. Hives appear when you hold the carrot there.
So Aldous gets only broccoli and potatoes, and no meat. William eats double and as varied as possible, so he gets one of everything: four items, double Aldous’s two. That leaves two pieces of meat and a carrot for Alexandra.
Short Harp Performance
Alexandra leaves the table. Scroll right to find her at the harp. She asks you to mirror her, so watch which string she plays and play the opposite one, the same number of times.
- Round 1: First from the left, 3 times.
- Round 2: Third from the left, second from the left, first from the left.
- Round 3: First from the left, fifth from the left, first from the left, third from the left.
- Round 4: Fifth from the left, fourth from the left, third from the left, second from the left, first from the left.
The Dessert
Take the Plate with Dessert from the maid and bring it to the table. This time the note says:
- All food should be served
- Aldous only eats cheese
- Chocolate shouldn’t go with cheese
- William hates yellow
- William has one more piece of dessert
Both pieces of cheese are yellow, so William can’t have either. Put them on Aldous’s plate. William has one more piece than the others, so he gets three. The chocolate dessert has yellow in the middle, so it goes to Alexandra.
Closing Speech
Dinner and the entertainment are over. Click Aldous to hear his closing speech. As expected, he pulls out the Rifle. When you step back from the table, William pulls out the Revolver too.
Look at the floor on the right to find a Bread Knife. Pick it up and cut the rope above the chandelier.
