Servant of the Lake: The Night Watch Walkthrough

Maid holding a candle and a bell

Night starts with the ring of a bell. Go into the room to the left of the entrance, where the maid is holding a candle and a bell. Talk to her, and she asks you to check the hallways.

Hallway Monitoring

Hallway with Rustie asleep on the pink chair

Your rounds follow two rules:

  • If you see anything strange, ring the bell.
  • If everything looks normal, blow out a candle.

You’ll walk the hallways several times. The routine only ends once you’ve blown out the candles three times.

If you get it wrong, all the candles light up again and you have to start over.

Hidden achievement (Checking for Intruders): On every round, go to the back door near the garden. Eventually you’ll see something there that triggers the achievement.

There doesn’t seem to be a fixed order, so watch for these signs:

  • Alexandra’s portrait changes. Her face is blacked out, with white eyes.
  • A black cat pops up in the crate with the milk. Click it and you’ll see Rustie inside.
  • An open door and a shadowy figure appear next to William’s portrait, in the hallway where Rustie sits on the chair.
  • The door to Aldous’s room is open and slowly shuts.
  • William is slumped down in his portrait.

When the routine is done, the maid tells you it’s time for bed.

William drinking in the back hallway

Head toward the stairs at the back of the house, where William is drinking. He asks you to check the attic for some things and to use the Walking Stick.

Go up to Aldous’s room and take the Walking Stick. Use it on the ceiling to get into the attic, which starts the next task.
