Complete Looking for the Cat in Servant of the Lake by tracking Rustie through the house and opening Aldous’s hidden lab.
Servant of the Lake: Looking for the Cat Walkthrough
Day three starts at the entrance again, with the maid waiting for you. Talk to her. She says William is looking for you, and the cat has gone missing, so she wants you to find him.
Go into the next room. The door on the right is wide open, and the double doors next to William’s portrait are slightly ajar. Check the double doors first.
Talk to William. He realizes you don’t have the book, so now he wants the Sledgehammer instead. Hand over the Sledgehammer, then back out and go through the door on the right.
Straight ahead is the kitchen door, with a bust of Aldous to its right. Check the bust and take the Pebble on top of his head.
Turn left down the corridor. Ahead is the door to the Dining Room, and there’s a window on the right.
Click the window and throw the Pebble at the tree log. When Rustie appears, click him, and he runs off.
Go all the way back to the room with the portraits of William and Alexandra. Look at the shadow under the chair to find Rustie a second time, and click him again.
Take the door on the right again and check behind the bust of Aldous. Then back out and return to the portrait room. This time, the door to the back of the house is slightly open.
Go through it, and you’ll see where William and the Sledgehammer ended up. Head all the way back to the front of the house and left into the stove room. Open the Stove, and there’s Rustie, keeping warm.
Hidden achievement (Petting the Cat): Once Rustie is rescued and sitting in the maid’s lap, stroke him a few times. He eventually runs off, and the achievement pops.

With Rustie safe, talk to the maid. She tells you about a note from Mr. Aldous. Click the table and take the note.
