Complete Dressing up for Dinner in Servant of the Lake by getting the wine, the glasses, and every sibling ready to eat.
Servant of the Lake: Dressing up for Dinner Walkthrough
Dinner is ready, so it’s time to dress for it. You’re back at the entrance, and once again things look a little different. First, take the Glass from the table under the missing portrait.
Go into the Servant’s Room, where the maid is waiting with a glass on a tray. Talk to her, and she asks you to find the wine and the glasses. You can hand over the one you just picked up, then go looking for the rest.

Go into the next room. Aldous’s portrait has moved to where William’s used to be. Click the pink chair and take the Tie lying on it.

The edge of the rug is rolled up again. Click it and take the cover off the cellar. Go down and pick up the glass on the left, next to the bottles.
Click the small wooden box on the floor, and you’ll see a familiar locked box. Turn the buttons to 1643. Take the Bottle With Wine, go back to the maid, and hand everything over.

She asks you to get everyone ready while she sets the table, then disappears. Go back into the room with the pink chair. All the doors are open now (before, only the white door on the right was).
Start with the door on the right. Look at the bust of Aldous and take the Butterfly Tie. Back out and go through the open door to the right of the pink chair. Check the wooden crate on the floor and take the Hair Ribbon.

Go up the stairs on the right and talk to Aldous. He says he needs his rifle, and tells you to “tap the hat twice, listen to the crow, then grab the rifle.” Drag the Butterfly Tie onto his neck before you leave.
Go back down to the room with the statue. Click the painting of Aldous on the right. Tap the hat twice, the crow once, and the rifle once. A compartment opens, and you can take the Rifle. Bring it back to Aldous.
Return to the room with the pink chair. Go up the stairs and through the double doors to the left of Aldous’s portrait. Click the table and then the small box. Slide the clasp to the right to open it and take the pearl Necklace.

Go through the open door on the right. Talk to Alexandra, take the baby, and drag the Necklace and Hair Ribbon onto her. Click the basket on the floor to the left, then put James inside it.

Leave the room and click the door that’s slightly open. Talk to William. He tells you to fetch something from the stairs, the fifth step from the bottom.
Hidden achievement (Finishing Touch): You’ll need to use the painting of the house to the right of William’s room later anyway, but doing it now gets you an extra item for William. Move the fish (bottom row, far right) to the second row, far right. The fish then appears where William’s portrait used to be. Click it to get the Special Fish Pin, and give it to William along with the Revolver and the Tie.
Click the stairs and remove the panel to take a Revolver. Go back to William and give him the Tie and the Revolver. Like Aldous, he disappears. Alexandra doesn’t, and if you talk to her, she tells you to open the chest in the cellar.
Cellar Chest Puzzle
Hint: How can you get the other paintings back?
Solution: Move the siblings’ paintings back to where they started. Look at the lit-up painting of the house next to William’s room, which shows each sibling’s silhouette. Click the silhouettes to swap their places. There’s only one empty spot, and whatever you click moves into it. Arrange them like this:
- Alexandra: Bottom left
- Aldous: Bottom, first right next to the door
- William: Second row, far right
Then click each portrait to find a symbol. Use these symbols to move the bottles in the cellar again.

Once it’s solved, a golden box appears. Open it and take the Sacred Cloth and Sacred Water. Go back to Alexandra and click the basket.

Use the Sacred Water and Sacred Cloth on James. Talk to Alexandra again, and she sends you downstairs to the dining room.
