Chapter 4: Mystic Ship in the Mist Walkthrough
Section 1: The Card Game
The chapter opens with a circuit puzzle. Connect every positive terminal only to negative ones so the whole board forms one working loop. Solving it without a reset gives Faraday’s Heir; the solved layout is shown in the puzzle solutions guide.
Section 2: The Blood-Stained Cabin
External autopsy: candlestick, chest, body, bloodstains, left hand, hair, feet and the glass shards around the feet. Great Inventor unlocks automatically in this section.
- “What fact contradicts the conclusion that Afu …”: point to the Candlestick.
- “Evidence indicating the time Afu entered …”: point to the Kerosene lamp on the ground.
- “The reason Afu has blood …”: point to the Glass shards on the ground.
- “The evidence suggesting someone else entered the room …”: point to the Suitcase.
Section 3: Hunting the Killer
Second autopsy: face, head, upper limbs, the right hand and the legs.
Section 4: Ripples Resurface
In the crew cabin, examine the wrinkled paper on the floor for Hao Chiu’s Poem and the lower bunk on the left for the historical fact Travels of Marco Polo.
Engine room autopsy: face, chest, weapon, body, hands, legs and the mahjong card.
Section 5: The Alibi
Group Testimony: Actions During the Power Outage
Press “I left to get tools but I saw a figure …” and confront it with Yinchu’s statement.
Group Testimony: Actions After the Incident
- Shen and El carried the body onto the deck, so confront the mismatch with Teman’s statement.
- “If Wu Teman was on the deck the entire time …”: present One copper coin.
- Wu Teman says he threw the offering bags in one by one. Confront this with Afu’s statement.
- “Someone is unable to provide a reliable alibi!”: present Yinchu.
Section 6: Glimmer Through the Mist
- Yinchu’s testimony: think about what Afu was doing. Press “The road to the cockpit was dark…” and present the Broken kerosene lamp.
- “If Yinchu was not …”: answer Discover the body.
- “Speaking of motive, I believe …”: point to the Suitcase.
- “Indicate items possibly related to the crime motive”: point to the Cards.
- “I believe this piece of evidence will show …”: present the Dining hall newspaper.
- “Combined with this evidence …”: present the Newspaper clippings.
Section 7: The Price of Truth
Turn the hairpin over and examine its top, then present the Missing hairpin for “This detail and a certain piece of evidence …”.
“The only person who had the chance …”: the jumbled order of deaths was meant to give the killer an alibi for Ling’s murder, so the culprit is one of Liangshin, El and Shipmaster Lo. Present El Chao. If you want Mistaken Accusation, name Wu Yin-chu here first.
- Contradiction in Shen’s memories: El is not lying, he simply does not know something. Press “Once you’re done, the speed of the ship …” and present the Steam valve.
- “If we combine the steam valve …”: present the Navigation log.
- “Considering El was with me the entire time …”: present the Stolen hairpin.
The chapter ends with Mystic Ship in the Mist.
Section 8: Dawn of Hope
When you can expose Yinchu’s secret, choose “Let things be” for Unspoken Secrets.
Endings in Chapter 4
- #14 “Giant Ship” Sinks: run out of health in The Blood-Stained Cabin.
- #15 Another Homicide: run out of health in the power outage group testimony.
- #16 Pacifying the Loong King: present the Loong King as the culprit.
- #17 Culprit Escape: run out of health while naming the person without an alibi.
- #18 Corpse at Ship’s Stern: run out of health questioning Shen’s memories.
- #19 Doubting Life: run out of health on “Considering El was with me the entire time”.
