Case of the Golden Idol: Case 5 Walkthrough
Case 5: The Intoxicating Dinner Party
Besides names and summary, you must place every guest at the table and give each servant their room.
Words:
Foyer
- Letter carried by the boy: Little, Pip, David
- Pink coat on the rack: letter and tiger doodle: Richards, Edmund, Cloudsley, Mary, Peter, Battley
Kitchen
- Maid on the left: Brian, Boar
- Maid on the right: Lucia, Ada
- Letter on the wall: Smith, Walker, Baker, Gorran
- Locked nook with the heart lock: Wine, Brandy
- Mattress above the kitchen: Mattress, Monkean, Darkhand

Study and dining room
- Safe in the study: Tonic
- Letters on the desk: Rose, Cubert, Lothar
- Serving table: George, Brydges, Final, Vanguard, Steward, Water, Salad, Lemonade
Hints:
- Three people here first appeared in case 3.
- Letters to the staff come from the master of the house, which tells you whose home this is.
- Servants did not eat at the table, and one servant has a room even though he is not here tonight.
- The keys look decorative, but the shape of each blade is what matches it to a lock.
- Food came from shared jugs and platters, so if a dish was poisoned, everyone who had it would be sick. Look for something only one person took.
- One salad and its glass of tonic were never touched. Check the notes on who cannot eat meat and who must take a tonic before eating.
- Rose died, but plenty of people wanted someone else dead. Ask whether she was the real target.
- The summary separates who wanted the death from who added the poison. They can be different people.
- Find out whose servant room holds the decoding sheet. That tells you who received the coded order.
