Chapter 2 is where the full cast shows up and Cotari ends up dismembered behind a locked infirmary door. You’ll bounce between the Chamber of Offerings and the Infirmary three times, and the trial runs much longer than the first one.

Chapter 2: Investigation and Trial Walkthrough

Investigation

Meeting the Other Participants

The Proxy adds the Pathosync page to your menu. You start surrounded by the rest of the cast. Introduce yourself and go through every topic with Silas, Eirys, Dada, Raze, Hyper, Fayse, Alice, Elian and the Believer. After Cotari is introduced and the scene plays:

  • Based on Fayse’s statement, her role is likely… any answer is fine; none of them is marked wrong.
  • The best move to protect Lena would be to… Reveal I’m a Hero.

Chamber of Offerings

Check the Offering Chamber Door, USB drive, Luke Photo, Outfit, Bank Knife, Crumpled Note, Feather, Treasure Chest and Sea Angel tank. Talk to Eirys, the Believer and Fayse on all three topics. Eirys’s third topic is a question: the participant with a manipulating Pathosync is most likely Alice, the famous actress.

Once everything is checked, visit the Dining Hall, the Lounge and Outside of Infirmary. The next scene plays after all three.

  • Present in scene, the three suspicious things in the photo: the bite mark (on the breast, face or scalp), the Murder Mark in blood and the blood text beneath the mark.
  • When could the Dismemberer have entered the infirmary? During Limb Severance activation.

Infirmary

Check the Infirmary Door, the Wire Saw on the bed, the Murder Marking, Clock, Sea Angel box and the Proxy.

  • How did the Dismemberer vanish from the room? Hidden in the room, blending in when you entered. Everyone was accounted for, so nobody could have left.
  • Who’s the prime suspect? Any answer is fine.

Chamber of Offerings (Second Visit)

Check the Door, Small Window, Cotari (the murder marking, her stumps, the Alabaster Box and the mark at the bottom of the box), the Alabaster Box Lid, Severed Limbs, Believer, Clock and Sea Angel. Make a mental note that the vibration blade is gone. It isn’t a hotspot, but it matters later.

Infirmary (Second Visit)

Check the Believer, the blood on the floor, Cotari (leg, hand and murder marking), the Bandages, Clock and Sea Angel box.

  • The thing missing from the room is… the lower legs.

Chamber of Offerings (Third Visit)

Check the Door, Elian, Silas, the Alabaster Box, the pattern made of severed limbs, the Believer, Eirys, Clock and Sea Angel.

Infirmary (Third Visit)

Check Cotari (Nano Knife and Murder Message), the Clock and Dada.

Trial

Refutation vs. Hyper: The Locked Door

Statement 3, “You opened the locked door.” Present Infirmary Key; Alice was holding it.

  • The case begins with… a Believer’s limbs being severed by the Dismemberer.

Refutation vs. Everyone: The Nano-Blade

Statement 6, Hyper: “they used a nano-blade to sever the limbs.” Present Wire Saw. The wounds match a wire saw.

  • The wire saw is strange because… there wasn’t enough time. A nano blade cuts instantly; a wire saw by hand takes several minutes.

Refutation vs. Raze: Her Own Legs

Statement 8, “cut off her own legs.” Present Cause of Believer’s Death. She already had no hands.

Refutation vs. Eirys: The Church’s Role

Statement 5, “She actively interfered in the selection.” Present Logic Church’s Neutrality.

  • Why are so many believers present? For participants to use.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Who Entered

Statement 3, Elian: “Everyone in the selection entered.” Present Dada’s Strange Behavior. She stepped out at the time.

  • Present in scene, the problem with the window theory: the window. The area around it is white and would show a blood stain.
  • What could have held down Cotari’s hands? The Alabaster Box Lid.
  • What proves the lid was used? Blood on the Alabaster Box Lid.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Unpredictable Timing

Statement 8, Raze: “You can’t plan murders around unpredictable things.” Present Writing on Alabaster Box. A note said to enter the room at noon, so the timing was predictable.

Refutation vs. Hyper: The Chamber of Offerings

Statement 3, “then take to the Chamber of Offerings.” Present Eirys’ Testimony: no one entered the room.

  • What triggers Dada’s episodes? A strong smell of blood. Both rooms had it.
  • What clue proves she eats people? Bite Marks.

Refutation vs. Dada

Statement 3, “I think Cotari cut off her own legs.” Present Cotari’s Cause of Death. Same logic as the Believer: she had no hands.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Grabbing Limbs

Statement 7, Elian: “just grab some limbs and shove them in.” Present Proxy’s Testimony. She confirmed the legs were Cotari’s.

  • When you entered the Infirmary, did Cotari have lower legs? No.
  • What was the point of killing the Believer first? To set up the idea of “hands first, then legs.” Cotari’s death doesn’t follow that pattern; the whole thing is misdirection.
  • How could you have seen Cotari with legs? Someone else’s legs were attached to her.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Seeping Blood

Statement 9, Alice: “Given enough time, blood would seep through.” Present Cotari’s Bleeding Rate. She bleeds very slowly, so the blood wouldn’t show for a long time.

  • Present in scene, what connected the lower legs to her? Bloody Bandages on Floor. That’s far too many bandages for the arms alone.
  • Present suspect, who could have entered the Infirmary? Alice, the only person with the key.

Refutation vs. Alice

Statement 5, “Lyle was there the whole time.” Present Time Away from Room. You left for the Chamber of Offerings scene.

Refutation vs. Hyper: The Swap

Statement 4, “Instruct a believer to swap at the designated time.” Present Logic Church’s Neutrality. A second box doesn’t break the rule, but swapping it out during a murder plot would.

Bad End Choice: Accuse, Declare Innocent or Shift Discussion

Accuse leads to a bad end with no achievement. Declare innocent and Shift discussion both keep the trial going.

  • Did the Dismemberer have an accomplice? They acted alone. Only the werewolf can kill an innocent, so nobody had a reason to help.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Eirys and the Box

Statement 8, Raze: “Eirys messed with the box.” Eirys used this same argument earlier: she’s blind and couldn’t have moved bloody items around that carefully.

  • No accomplices, and the key was with Eirys’s voice-activated dog. What’s the answer? Once the room was sealed, no one could tamper inside. The gap you haven’t covered yet is when Cotari was wheeled out after her hands were severed.
  • Present suspect, who is the Dismemberer? Raze. Whoever touched the box when Cotari was found is the one, and Raze looked in the box and threw it.
  • Why did no one notice the hands were swapped with legs? Everyone’s perception was altered by Limb Severance; limbs look like masses of flesh.

Refutation vs. Raze

Statement 1, “I have an alibi.” Present Location Map. Nobody disputes that she made drinks. The point is that no one can confirm where she was or when she made them.

Refutation vs. Everyone: Unwrapping

Statement 12, Fayse: “Only Cotari could have unwrapped them.” Present Cotari’s Cause of Death for the third time; she had no arms or legs then.

  • Point out in scene, where was the Dismemberer hiding? The Believer. The real goal of the first murder was a Believer disguise.
  • Under what circumstances could someone have been the Dismemberer? Anyone without an alibi while both rooms were guarded, since they were inside the whole time.
  • Why were the severed limbs arranged like a Sea Angel? To mark where Cotari’s legs were. The killer also has Limb Severance and needed a way to tell the limbs apart; hers are the last two on the right.

Case Summary

  • Slide II, who did Raze see through? Dada eating flesh.
  • Slide IV, what idea was suggested? Hands, legs, then the death message (the knife, the death message and believers over the dead Believer).
  • Slide V, who was pushed in? Raze pushing Cotari’s wheelchair.
  • Slide VII, what did Raze prepare last for the Chamber discovery? The Sea Angel limb pattern.
  • Slide IX, what did Raze do in the limb chaos? Swapped out the limbs in the box.
  • Slide X, what did Raze do before the rooms were sealed? Set up the drinks and put on the disguise.
  • Slide XIII, what did you see the first time you rushed into the infirmary? Falling bandages and missing legs.
  • Slide XIV, who was left alone in the infirmary? Raze about to stab Cotari.
  • Slide XV, what did Raze do to Cotari? Stabbed her (the knife in Cotari’s chest).

Finally, choose Agree. Disagree gives the same bad end as accusing Alice. Afterwards you can read one person’s letter; it has no effect. Finishing the chapter unlocks Limb Severance.
