Heartfall: Route 11 Walkthrough

Finish Route 11, Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, in Heartfall and unlock both of its ending achievements.

Heartfall: Route 11 Walkthrough

Route 11 is called Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. Depending on the ending you reach, it unlocks the “Never Alone Again” achievement or the “Promise Fulfilled” achievement.

Spoilers: Story details are left out, but a few points may still spoil the game. Not all dialogue is covered, and character relationships are described as little as possible.

Session One: Starting Out

  1. Start on an empty save file.
  2. Once you can move, go to the white-cloaked figure in the top right. It looks like a “Watcher”.
  3. Keep interacting with it until it offers a staring contest. Carry on until you see [The statue… blinks.]
  4. Go to the beach and interact with the stone altar. Accept the quest to start the route.
  5. Collect the 4 stone fragments below.
  • The centre bottom field of the forest
  • The secret room in the village house, inside the library
  • The top of the forest fields
  • The cave on the Mountain path
  1. Go back to the statue where you woke up and interact with it.
  2. Complete the fragments to form the orb, then place the orb on the statue.

A full art window appears, and session one is over.

Session Two: Altar Ego

When you come back from the statue, you’ll find materials lying around you. Use them to set up camp in the grove by the statue.

Next comes the quest [Talk to others on the island], and it means exactly that: speak to everyone. Going back to the campfire ends it early at any time, but talking to everyone opens up more options later, including separate quests.

Careful: Some characters force you to disagree with them, which lowers your reputation. With others you can avoid it, but the wrong choice can drop it even further.

Bringing up the altars will most likely lower your reputation with everyone except Scar. If you skip the topic, though, you miss some information.

Before you head back to the campfire, interact with the altars on the beach and in the lower field. Then click the campfire to end the night.

By now you should have quests from Martyn, Jimmy, and BigB.

Session Three: Sheep in a Pen

Day three opens with a prompt to make new tools, using iron from the mountains. Any quests you took the night before can be started now too.

Flower Quest

Take the flowers you found on the mountain, near Ren’s Fort, to Jimmy. Your reputation with him goes up.

New Tools Quest

  1. Head up the mountains and go into the cave. You get enough Iron Ore for everything you need.
  2. Find a crafting table. There’s one just above the Mountain Path exit.
  3. Follow the prompt to craft a pickaxe, then a shield, then a sword.

Main Options

  • You can talk to everyone. Some of them may give you more quests.
  • Once your tools are done, a commotion breaks out in the village. Follow it.
  • In the village, everyone is fighting over the Enchanter.

On this route you can’t interact with the Enchanter fight. You “black out” and miss what happens.

Session Four: Wool in Your Teeth

Session four starts early, as soon as you leave the village, with “an intense ringing in your head.” You’re reminded that you made tools but forgot to gather food.

You’re sent out to collect resources overnight. Around the map you’ll notice fractures like the ones in the memory after Session Two. The game tells you to keep away from their edges.

You can also talk to people again:

  1. Try to leave the flower field. You’ll be too hungry to go on and get the option to kill a cow. You have to do it.
  2. Try to kill a second cow. The game won’t let you kill more than one, so leave after the second prompt.
  3. Visit Scar and Joel at their desert base. When you arrive they accuse you of theft, but your reputation with them does not drop. They chase you into the marsh instead.

Warning: After the marsh scene, your reputation rises with Joel and Scar and drops with Ren, Tango, and Impulse.

Session Five: The Shell You Haunt

The session opens with a conversation with yourself. Pick every option that blames YOU rather than anyone else. If it tries to convince you otherwise, pick the options that doubt your choices.

After a short story cutscene, you get the quest [Satiate your hunger]. It takes you across the map:

  1. Kill the cow in the forest. You’re teleported to the flower fields.
  2. Collect the wood there, then kill that cow as well. You’re taken to the marsh.
  3. In the marsh, pick up an Axe, a piece of red jasper, and some Iron, then kill the cow. You’re taken to the mountains.
  4. Enter the cave.
  5. When you come out, walk up toward Ren’s fort and on to BigB’s house. Grab the Flint N’ Steel and BigB’s Journal there, then kill that cow too.
  6. The game tells you you’re [Still hungry…]. Keep going with the quest and interact with the fracture that appears in front of you.

You can interact with the second Enchanter fight, but what follows is out of your hands. Carry on with your quest.

Session Six: Scorched Earth

Your quest this session is [Check up on everyone].

  1. Go to the forest. You can listen in on Jimmy and Martyn talking before you explore further.
  2. Visit Tango.
  3. Visit Scar and Joel in the desert.
  4. Head up to Ren’s Fort. You’re forced to steal the Enchanter and run.

The rest of the session is story dialogue only.

Session Seven: No More Tears

  1. The session opens with dialogue with Scar and Joel. Pick whichever options help you befriend them. This is not required.
  2. Once they agree to help, take the orb from the statue and give it to them.
  3. Talk to BigB, Jimmy, and Martyn on the beach. Your reputation rises with Jimmy and BigB, and stays Neutral with Martyn.
  4. Meet the rest of the village at the town altar. After the talk, your reputation rises with Cleo, Tango, and Scott.
  5. Go up the Mountain path, enter the cave, and talk to Ren.
  6. After talking with yourself, run toward the volcano.

A long stretch of story dialogue follows before gameplay resumes.

At the volcano, pick the dialogue options that let you save your friends, even if it costs you the happy ending you hoped for.

If you’ve followed every step and choose your friends over the Watchers, you unlock the “Never Alone Again” achievement and reach the Route 11 ending.

They deserved better. You tried to save them and fell short, but now you’ll be together forever.

Session Seven: Alternative Ending

Play the session as usual: bring everyone together and destroy the Altars when asked. In the opening dialogue with Scar and Joel, enlist their help, be kind to them, and tell Joel that yes, he could intimidate a Watcher.

AltarLocation
FirstThe Beach, with Jimmy, BigB, and Martyn
SecondThe forest, with everyone else
ThirdInside the cave

As with the other endings on this route, keep walking to the Volcano. Stand inside the circular pattern and start the dialogue as usual, but choose your options carefully:

  • “Recall Watcher weaknesses”
  • “Do something Reckless”

This unlocks the [A promise fulfilled] achievement and the alternative ending of Route 11.

They got what they deserved, and you paid for it. Still, the promise you made was kept.
