WEBFISHING: Buddy Upgrades Guide

A simple guide to how buddy upgrades function in WEBFISHING (v1.08).

WEBFISHING: Buddy Upgrades Guide

A quick guide to buddy upgrades in WEBFISHING, explaining their true effects beyond the unclear in-game descriptions.

Buddy Speed

Buddy catches in WEBFISHING use a tick system, like regular fishing. Each tick lasts 1 second, and the buddy needs several successful ticks to catch a fish.

Buddy ticks can succeed or fail depending on the accumulated chance since being placed (or their last harvest). The base chance of a tick succeeding is 0.012, or 1.2%. Every failed tick increases the success chance by 0.004, or 0.4%. Once a tick succeeds, the progress to a buddy catching a fish is increased.

Level 1105:45
Level 284:36
Level 374:02
Level 463:27
Level 552:53

* I can’t really think of a good way to measure the actual average time, but this section feels extremely incomplete without some form of time metric. The times presented assume you get a successful tick on average every 34.5s (15% accumulated chance), which matches up with my own experienced times.

Buddy Quality

Buddy Quality is much less complicated than Buddy Speed.

Each upgrade increases the number of tries a fish has to improve its quality and the chances of it being a higher quality. The number of improvement tries is equal to the level of Buddy Quality not including* the initial Normal quality.

* The number of improvement tries is technically 1 + the current level as a Normal quality is always guaranteed. This means that Level 3 provides 3 additional tries at improving the quality, instead of just 3 total tries.
