A Little to the Left: Chapter 1 Solutions

Chapter 1: Home Sweet Home

Level 1

The very first tidy-up: tilt the crooked picture frame until it hangs perfectly level.

Level 2

Pick up every cat toy scattered around the floor and drop it into the basket.

Level 3

Line the pencils up from the palest shade to the darkest and keep them all standing straight. The little marks along the top show where each one belongs.

Level 4

Swap the sticky notes around until the doodled line runs unbroken from one note to the next.

Level 5

Same idea as the first level, but now every frame on the wall needs to be levelled.

Level 6

Build a pile of papers with the biggest sheet at the bottom and the smallest on top.

Level 7

The bookshelf accepts two answers: sort the books by height, or ignore height and sort them by how thick each spine is.

Solution 1: by height

Solution 2: by thickness

Level 8

Slide the cartridges so they all sit in one neat vertical line.

Level 9

Each envelope shows the start of a stamp pattern; finish every row with the matching stamps. Some stamps hide under the envelopes, and tapping the cat paw when it pops up stops it from messing up your work.

Level 10

A bigger version of the sticky note puzzle: fill the grid so the scribble continues across every note.

Level 11

Count how many pins there are of each colour, then drop that colour into the plant carrying the same number of berries. Four black pins go into the plant with four berries, for example.

Level 12

The calendar already has a sticker pattern going; carry it on with the remaining stickers.

Level 13

Two answers here: match up the design printed along the bottom of the spines, or put the shortest book in the middle with heights rising toward both ends.

Solution 1: matching spine pattern

Solution 2: shortest in the middle

Level 14

Rotate each painting until its scene is the right way up. The game is fussy about the exact angle, so wait for the ding before moving on.

Level 15

The hardest sticky note grid so far. Connect the scribble across the notes, keeping in mind that some grid squares stay empty.

Level 16

Three ways to finish this pencil row: from blunt to sharp tips, from smallest to largest eraser, or in rainbow colour order.

Solution 1: blunt to sharp

Solution 2: by eraser size

Solution 3: rainbow order

Level 17

Fit every item onto the desk so the surface is completely covered with no gaps left over.

Level 18

Sort the books into a smooth rainbow gradient, or line them up by how high the stripe sits on each spine.

Solution 1: rainbow gradient

Solution 2: by stripe height

Level 19

Clear the shavings by dragging them off the edge of the screen, then order the pencils by length. The alternative answer sorts them by the shape of their shavings, from the curliest to the most zigzagged.

Solution 1: by length

Solution 2: curly to zigzag

Level 20

The chapter finale. Turn each dial until its light switches on, then set the record arm down on the second track, the only one that is not scratched.
