Metro Awakening: Graphics Issue Fix Guide

How to fix graphic issues in Metro Awakening.

How to Fix Blurry Game

Just a small workaround that helps to deal with the blurry.

In order to get the game to look sharp you have to turn up the Resolution Scale to the maximum, which costs a lot in terms of performance.

Alternatively you can set the Resolution Scale to half (game runs smooth but blurry), then open the following file with notepad:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Impact\Saved\Config\Windows\Engine.ini

And add the following lines at the end of the file:

[ConsoleVariables]
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=4

You can choose a different value. While the texts are still blurry, the game itself looks fantastic without any performance cost.

How to Fix Oversized Graphics (SteamVR)

Weirded-out by characters or environment that seems to be scaled too big? This fixes it!

  • Go into VR and start up Metro Awakening.
  • Bring up the Steam overlay in VR and click on “Steam” on the bottom bar.
  • Click on “VR Settings” on the menu on the left.
  • Click “Video”.
  • Click on “Per-Application Video Settings”.
  • Scroll down to “Override World Scale” and change it to 90%, this is the value that works best for me and seems the most natural.

If you for any reason cannot open the SteamVR overlay while in Metro Awakening, you can simply just follow the same steps on your PC using the little SteamVR status window, just click on the three bars, then “Settings” to get to VR Settings.

Be aware that if you are changing these settings while the game is not running, you will need to select it with the dropdown box in order to change the world scale for ONLY this game. It will either be called “Metro Awakening” or “Impact” (Impact is the name of the exe).
