Here’s a collection of all the tips displayed on the loading screens in Luma Island.
Luma Island: Beginner Tips
Tools
- The whip can be an effective tool against many creatures on Luma Island.
- Use the Axe to remove Craftbenches, Torches, Crop Trees and much more!
- You can upgrade your tools on Sylvia’s Anvil in town!
- Make sure to upgrade your tools before going to new areas.
- Make sure your tools are upgraded for each area of the island!
Caves
- Scared of Spiders? You can enable Arachnophobia mode in the game options.
- Watch out for spiders and ghosts in caves! If you get caught, you will die!
- Spiders and ghosts in caves are tough but your whip can kill them.
- Cave running out of resources? Find the reset device for a fresh start!
Farming
- You can charge the Hoe by holding the dedicated key (Default: Left-Click) or A on the controller. This also works when harvesting!
- Problems on your farm? Maybe animals could help…
- Made a mistake on your farm? You can cover the ground in Hay, Gravel or Sand! Just place it on the hotbar and use it!
- Trees, bushes, and all kinds of nature will continue to grow back over time!
- Water your plants in the morning! Once watered, plants will not dry out during the day.
- Use Fences to keep your Animals from wandering away!
- You can fill your Watering Can at any pond or stream while it is selected.
Multiplayer
- You can Emote using the dedicated key (Default: TAB) or LT on the controller.
- Your friends can join you at any time! Simply open the game or invite them!
Building
- You can find more drawings in Balthazar’s shop in the Town! Some quests also reward them.
Quests
- Found something mysterious? Someone in town might be able to help…
Lumas and Animals
- Use a Bug Net to catch Critters, Animals, Lumas, Cats and Dogs.
- There is hidden treasure spread all over the island! Try using your Lumas to sniff them out!
- There are many different Lumas to collect! Make sure to keep them fed!
- Beware the chimp.
Crafting
- Left items on a Craftbench? Don’t worry, after a while the items will fall out!
Miscellaneous
- Your inventory is infinite! Run out of space and your backpack will grow!
- You can throw most items, but be careful – they sink.
- You can throw items using the dedicated key (Default: R key) or RT on the controller.
- You can cycle through items on the Hotbar using keys (Default: Q & E) or the LB & RB buttons on the controller.
- Shops unlock new stock! Check the town often to see what’s new!
Fishing
- Fish not biting? Try catching some bait nearby!
Exploration & Puzzles
- Make sure to explore Luma Island as much as possible. You may find hidden treasures and puzzles.
- Make sure to explore during the night too!
Professions
- Stuck on what to do? Maybe someone in town could use some help…
- Looking to make some money? Working through your profession is a great way to make some hard-earned cash!
- Hit a wall in your profession? You can always buy another in town!
