Learn how to pick a princess, build a chained starter deck, and choose the right rewards in Hungry Horrors Banquet Mode.
Hungry Horrors: Banquet Mode Guide
This guide is for players who have already played some of the story and know the basic rules.
Starting a run
- Select Banquet Mode.

- Pick your modifiers: a princess, a mode, and a difficulty. Flip through the options to see what each one does.
For example, you could pick Clumsy Princess (discard a card each turn), Culinary mode (a dish is removed once you eat it or feed it to a horror), and Raw, the default difficulty.

- Each Banquet win unlocks another princess. Beating Basic Princess, for instance, unlocks the next one.
- Higher difficulties stay locked for a princess and mode until you win on that combination’s base difficulty.
Building a starter deck
Random Princess hands you random recipes to start with. For every other princess, build your starter deck from three or four dish types that chain into each other.
The chain matters most in Culinary mode. Until your dishes run out, the cravings chain is the only thing keeping you alive, so every dish has to work with the others.
One dish outside the chain is worth adding for healing. It stays in your hand, so Culinary mode does not remove it.

How a run is laid out
Every Banquet run has three biomes, and the game picks them for you: a starter, a main course, and a dessert. Each is harder than the one before. Clearing a biome opens the door to the next.

Each horror’s food preferences (love, like, dislike, hate) are visible from the start, so there is nothing to discover. The fights are still tough.
Which rewards to take
| Reward | Culinary | Deckbuilder |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredients | Top priority | Avoid |
| Recipes | Top priority | Avoid |
| Dishes | Weak: gone after one use | Top priority |
| Seasonings | Weak: the seasoned dish has one use | – |
| Potions | Good | Good |
| Gold | Fine if you need a vendor, not a priority | Fine if you need a vendor, not a priority |
Culinary mode tips
- Cook after every battle. Your deck shrinks each time you eat a dish or feed one to a horror, so keep refilling it, ideally with stronger dishes.
- Horrors drop more ingredients as you progress. Rarer ingredients appear in later biomes and battles.
- Go for encounters that reward ingredients or recipes. Nothing else matters as much in this mode.
- Keep a steady stock of ingredients so you can keep cooking better dishes.

Deckbuilder mode tips
- Collect as many new dishes as you can. Dishes, not recipes, are what make your deck stronger.
- Feed Faelinis. He loves it, and cutting weak dishes from your deck means you draw your best ones more often.
- Pass on recipes and ingredients when you can. You rarely get to cook, and your ingredients probably won’t match your recipes.
Getting a third cookware
Fight at least one elite battle in the first biome to earn a second cookware. Finishing the biome gives you another, which brings you to the maximum of three.
In Culinary mode the elite fight can drain your dishes. Take it when your deck feels strong and you aren’t close to running out of dishes or ingredients.

Scrolls of Taliesin
You receive Scrolls of Taliesin along the way. Spend them between biomes for bonuses instead of letting them sit unused.
