Cairn: On the Trail Deep Water DLC 100% Achievement Guide

Cairn

The achievements in Cairn’s On the Trail Deep Water DLC are spread across the Lamu climbing gym and the islands of Haken and Ruka. Three messages are hidden along the way, one in each of these places.

In Lamu, you clear routes of every grade, pick up a chalk bag, and race the clock on the gym scoreboard. Out on the islands, you track down a key, set off fireworks, reach Otto’s room, and search the bird nests for a phoenix’s feather.

How to Unlock All Deep Water Achievements

First Message

You will find the first message in Lamu. Climb to the 3rd floor at the center of the gym to read it.

Hardcore Climber

Finish at least one route of each grade in Lamu. When a grade has two routes, either one counts.

The 2nd and 3rd floors have ropes you can let down. Use them so you don’t have to climb up to the 2nd floor every time.

Pocket Pika

Once you have done at least one route of every grade in the Lamu gym, head to the bistro area to claim your chalk bag. The bistro sits above the children’s route, and the bag is waiting on the counter.

Full Throttle

Of all the Deep Water achievements, this one is the hardest. It uses the scoreboard on the right side of the Lamu gym.

  • The timer only starts when you begin climbing, so you don’t need to rush to the wall.
  • Belaying or using the rope to go up stops the timer, and you have to start over from the beginning.
  • The easiest order is to climb the 3a first, then move on to the 5a.
  • To make the start of the 5a easier, step on the red foothold from the 5b.
  • You can chalk up twice. With the Pika bag, that gives you 32 extra grip, which saves time and helps you hold on to the wall.
  • Turn on the holds feedback setting in Gameplay Settings to check that you grab each hold well enough.

Second Message

The second message waits at the top of the island Haken.

Trespassing

Check the fisher hut on the island Haken. A hint there tells you where the key is.

The simplest way to reach it is to climb the smaller cliff first, jump onto the big wall, and traverse to the right.

Light Show

Launch the fireworks from the top of the island Haken. There is a cairn up there where you can take a break and light them.

Third Message

The third message appears at the top of the lighthouse on the island Ruka when you light the fires.

Room With a View

You can reach Otto’s room once you climb the plateau the lighthouse stands on, on the island Haken. The room is close to the camp site, on the opposite side from the starting point. Let down the rope there to get inside.

Light as a Feather

The phoenix’s feather is in one of the bird nests on the island Haken. A hint about the nests is in the camp on the beach. You can only get to that camp by rappelling down the rope next to the lighthouse.

The feather is in the nest hidden inside the cave. Drop through a hole near the lighthouse, then climb a little to reach it.
